Black and white Americans have fought side by side in every war, including the one we fought for independence from England.

But other than war's brutal equality of death, injury or survival; Black warriors mostly have not received the same respectful treatment as white members during or after their national service.

President Truman started our military down a more just system, but change in the military has been as excruciatingly slow as in civilian life.

Troy Mosley is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and author of The Armed Forces and American Social Change - An Unwritten Truce, the story of the military's slowest march.

Col. Mosley has more bragging rights about his own military service and he is also the founder and CEO of Citizens Against Intolerance. Producer and Keen Observer Angela Decker speaks with him on the JX.
