Myrtle Point, Oregon Library

One person's crisis is another person's opportunity. All of humanity faced a crisis with the outbreak of COVID-19, and the resulting changes--big changes--in business as usual.

The people at the Flora M. Laird Memorial Library in Myrtle Point saw an opportunity to step up and do what they do best.

The library staff, all 2.5 of them, took seriously their position as a community resource, and went far beyond providing books. School supplies, food, backpacks for school kids; these and more ended up moving through the little library to meet the needs of the community.

Shanna Allen is the Library Director, and our guest.
