The Impact Of The Pandemic On Pets And Shelters

There is some debate about the fate of pets as people return to work from pandemic-at-home work.

Some shelters in some states report an upsurge in animals surrendered at shelters, attributing the rise to people returning to work who can't care for last year's dog properly. But a couple of pet-focused organizations say there is no national dog-return surge.

We check in with Jackson County Animal Services, which operates the shelter near Talent. Shelter Director Kim Casey visits with a snapshot of recent shelter activity.
