Ashland teacher Wendy Werthaiser did not travel to Tokyo, but she did earn a gold medal this summer.
Werthaiser and her tandem bicycle partner, Jennifer Sharp, won top prize in their division at the Paralympic Women's Cycling National Championships in Boise in early July. Werthaiser is gradually losing her sight to a degenerative disease, but she has not let it slow her down, in a very literal sense.
