Conservation Group Works To Buy Water For Lower Klamath Refuge

Where there was once a vast lake, there are usually isolated pockets of water punctuating farmland. But not this year.

Lower Klamath Lake ceased to be a lake more than a century ago, through human redirection of its water source.

There are still wildlife refuges in the lake bed, but they are last in line for water, and so get none in dry years like this one.

The group California Waterfowlaims to change that, buying water rights from a rancher. We get a rundown on the plan from CW's Holly Heyser and Jeff Volberg.
