Siskiyou Fires Put The Squeeze On Dog Shelter

A dog gets IV fluids at Rescue Ranch

The Lava and Tennant fires came on fast, forcing residents to evacuate in a hurry. Not all the places where people can seek refuge allow dogs.

So Rescue Ranch in Yreka, a no-kill shelter, had to swing into action once again to provide spaces for dogs in need of temporary housing. The shelter learned some lessons from responding to the Slater fire in September 2020.

The biggest needs? Money and stainless steel bowls and dog food. The bowls and food and other supplies can be ordered for Rescue Ranch through an Amazon Wishlist.

Board member Laura Finley visits with details.
