Some of us play guitar, and some of us pretend. Question for the air guitarists in the crowd: what kind of guitar do you imagine playing?

There's a lot of history behind the question and the answer, and it comes back to two guys who believed in electric guitars long before the rest of the world. Music writer Ian S. Port tells the story of the men and their guitars in his book The Birth of Loud: Leo Fender, Les Paul, and the Guitar-Pioneering Rivalry That Shaped Rock 'n' Roll.

Do you have a favorite "axe," a Gibson or Fender or something else? Listen to the story and the sounds in this interview from 2019.
