Community College Enrollment Dives In Pandemic

Enrollment at community colleges tends to rise during economic downturns, as workers seek training for new jobs and careers.

Not in this economic downturn, due largely to its cause. COVID-19 not only drove people out of work, it drove them out of classrooms, and the Oregon Community College Association reports a sharp drop in enrollment at campuses across the state.

OCCA Executive Director Cam Preus visits, along with Tim Cook, President of Clackamas Community College. CCC took a double hit from the pandemic and the September fires, which closed it for a time.
