A place with an already-tight housing market got a whole lot tighter because of the Almeda Fire. The September fire burned down nearly 2,500 individual dwellings in the heart of Jackson County, many of them affordable units.
Fair Housing Council of Oregon keeps an eye on abuses in housing, and has been paying particular attention to how landlords are acting after the fire.
Maig Tinnin and Shyle Ruder from FHCO talk about what they've seen, and how potential renters should react. One major issue: landlords do not have the right to deny housing based on a potential renter paying rent all or in part through a voucher.
