Stephanie Kent and Logan Smalley were debating their favorite opening line from a book.
They compromised on "Call me Ishmael," from Moby Dick, and realized the potential pun in the line, written before telephones. They followed the pun to a career, running a voicemail service where book lovers could call to record anonymous messages about the books they love.
The pun (and fun) continues in book form, as the creators have now issued The Call Me Ishmael Phone Book: An Interactive Guide to Life-Changing Books. It really is arranged like a phone book, which may delight older readers and will probably puzzle younger ones.
