OSF stages have been silent and dark through the pandemic.
Jenny Graham

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival really has two chief executives, and they are both relatively new. And what a time to be learning the ropes; OSF has not been able to put a live play on stage since March. The return to live theater is still an open question, due to the pandemic.

Nataki Garrett, in her first full year as Artistic Director, has visited with us several times. Now we get to spend some time with David Schmitz, hired as Executive Director at OSF in May but only recently on the job full-time.

He talks about the considerable challenges of the moment, and the future he sees for the festival.
