The Rising Cost Of Harmful Algae Blooms

It's not just that algae blooming in bodies of water is gross to look at; it can sicken and kill people and animals.

So governments work to track the blooms and ameliorate their effects. That takes money, and it turns out, a LOT of money.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) started counting, and found more than a Billion dollars spent since 2010 cleaning up harmful algae blooms.

Oregon is high on the list, with $75 Million spent, and California is not far behind. Anne Schechinger of EWG visits with further details.
