Stories Of Southern Oregon: A Wine Scientist

Where pears once ruled, wine grapes are the major crop in Southern Oregon. True, hemp has made some inroads, but across Oregon, four times as many acres are covered with grape vines as hemp plants.

There's a lot of human knowledge accumulated from making wine over millennia; Dr. Alec Levin has a handle on a lot of it. He is a viticulturalist with the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center, the Rogue Valley branch of Oregon State University Extension.

And he is this month's guest in Stories of Southern Oregon, which has a wine-centric focus this year. Alec Levin joins us to talk about combining ancient knowledge with modern science.
