Confederate statues are coming down in several states, and military brass is willing to talk about renaming bases named after Confederate officers. A process of scrubbing the landscape of offensive names was already underway.

Now former Rogue Valley resident Alice Knotts thinks it's time to make "Dead Indian" go away. The road is officially "Dead Indian Memorial Road," but the old moniker, unreformed, is still attached to a plateau and a mineral spring.

Alice Knott proposed the name of a people, Latgawa, as a substitute. She visits to detail her thinking.

Mandy Yeahpau, a member of several tribes and an activist for Native American causes, also joins us.
