Everything alive today is the culmination of long chains of creative innovation, according to evolutionary biologist Andreas Wagner.

In his new book, he links nature's evolutionary creativity with the process of human creativity. Wagner is chair of the department of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Zurich and a professor at the Santa Fe Institute.

His book is Life Finds a Way: What Evolution Teaches Us About Creativity.  Andreas Wagner joins us by phone from Switzerland.
