Could drinking beer help fund Oregon’s fish and wildlife programs?

That’s one idea being proposed by a task force charged with finding new ways to fund the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

In a report released Monday, the task force suggests either a wholesale beverage tax or income tax surcharge that would “enable the agency to accomplish its mission to protect and enhance Oregon’s fish and wildlife and their habitats.”

The proposal will go before state legislators, who will ultimately determine its fate.
