2016 State of the Union Address

Tonight at 6pm, JPR will broadcast President Obama's State of the Union address on the Classics & News and News & Information Services.Audie Cornish will host the coverage, and will be joined in the studio by White House Correspondent Scott Horsley, National Political Correspondent Mara Liasson and Senior Washington Editor Ron Elving. NPR’s Sue Davis will report live from the House chamber, and White House Correspondent, Tamara Keith will join from Iowa.

The President's speech is expected to be different than in years past. Instead of a laundry list of legislative proposals, the speech will be thematic and future-oriented, speaking to the long-term challenges the country faces. The coverage will include the Republican Response from Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina.
