The Tucker Fire has been burning since Sunday afternoon on the southwest edge of the Clear Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Modoc County near the Oregon border. The fire spread rapidly, going from 2,000 acres to 11,000 over the course of Monday night.
By Friday afternoon, officials reported the fire had remained within containment lines since Wednesday, at 14,217 acres, and was 74 percent contained.
No evacuations have been ordered and no structures have been damaged or destroyed.
The fire was determined to have been unintentionally ignited by vehicular traffic along Highway 139.
Motorists in the area are advised that crews are still working along Highway 139. Please use caution and be aware of equipment and personnel along the road.
