Medford School Talks Continuing

Talks will continue today between representatives of striking Medford teachers and the school district. Progress was reportedly made during a marathon bargaining session yesterday.

The Mail Tribune reports that representatives of the teachers union and district administrators met face-to-face briefly yesterday in another round of state-mediated talks.

Talks yesterday lasted longer than 12 hours. The discussions reportedly ended with a district proposal on the table, and the union is expected to bring a counter-proposal to the table today.

Meanwhile, many students in the district are reporting a chaotic experience in classes full of busywork. Schools are on half-day schedules, different subjects are being combined into joint classes, and some schools have been closed.

Teachers are picketing at several locations.
