On Saturday, December 7th, JPR's Classics & News Service will begin the Metropolitan Opera's 89th season of Saturday morning broadcasts with Philip Glass's Akhnaten. The broadcast season will once again be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network. All broadcasts this season begin at 10am.

On Saturday, December 1st, JPR's Classics & News Service will begin the Metropolitan Opera's 88th season of Saturday morning broadcasts with Boito's Mefistofele. All broadacsts this season begin at 10am except for Wagner's Die Walkure (3/30), Siegfried (4/13), and Gotterfammerung (4/27), which all begin at 9:00am. The broadcast season will once again be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.

On Saturday, December 2nd, JPR's Classics & News Service will begin the Metropolitan Opera's 87th season of Saturday matinee broadacsts with Verdi's Requiem. All broadcasts begin at 10am except Wagner's Parsifal on February 17th which starts at 9am.

On December 3rd at 10am, JPR's Classics & News Service will kick off the Metropolitan Opera's 86th season of Saturday broadcasts with Puccini's Manon Lescaut. All broadcasts begin at 10am.

The Metropolitan Opera announced that the acclaimed conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will be the company’s new Music Director. The position has previously been held by only two artists in the company’s storied 133-year history—James Levine, who after 40 years in the position stepped down at the end of the recently concluded season to become the company’s first Music Director Emeritus, and Rafael Kubelik, who held the title briefly in the company’s 1973-74 season.

On December 7th at 10am, JPR's Classics & News Service is proud to kick off the Metropolitan Opera's 85th season of Saturday broadcasts with Puccini's La Boheme. This year, all broadcasts begin at 10am.

Mary Jo Heath, who has worked as producer and guest host for the Met over the past nine seasons, will become the fourth full-time radio host in the company’s history this September.

The 2014-15 season of opera performances, transmitted live in HD from the Metropolitan Opera stage, begins October 11th with Verdi’s masterful adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth, starring Željko Lučić’s in the title role and Anna Netrebko as his mad and murderous mate Lady Macbeth. Adrian Noble’s chilling production also features Joseph Calleja as the noble Macduff and René Pape as Banquo.
