Nature knows best: Successes and failures in tree planting

Trees are good. They provide many benefits: from giving oxygen, to stabilizing the soil, to providing shade. But are tree planting efforts effective in the fight against climate change?

A team of researchers, including Jacob Bukoski from the OSU College of Forestry, analyzed data from thousands of reforestation sites across 130 countries. The results show that roughly half the time it's better to let nature take its course.
