The expression "OK boomer" made a splash for a while there. It heaped derision on the generation that was once the country's largest age cohort, and the heaping came from the in-fact largest cohort now: millennials.
Notice what is missing from that transaction? The generation in the middle, generation X, now in middle age. And as Ada Calhoun reports, it was not a comfortable middle age for many women, even before the pandemic.
