Pharmacy shortage in the rural West makes national news

The pandemic has featured many shortages: personal protective equipment. Masks. Toilet paper.

We've all learned the term "supply chain," but there's another shortage that comes at a bad time: a shortage of pharmacies. Pharmacies big and small have closed in our part of the country or at least limited their hours, leaving people with fewer options for their health needs.

April Ehrlich, now on the staff at OPB, covered the story for NPR on a recent airing of Weekend Edition Saturday. We play the piece and visit with April about some of the finer points of the unwelcome trend in pharmacies.
