Connley Cave Field School

It all started with a pair of shoes. Sandals, actually... the oldest footwear in the world, somewhere around 10,000 years old.

That discovery in the 1930s led to further exploration of the Connley Caves in northern Lake County (Oregon) and finds that confirm people living in this part of North America perhaps long before anywhere else.

In this month's edition of Underground History, our joint project with the Southern Oregon University Laboratory of Anthropology, we learn about recent digs in the Connley Caves of the region.

Dennis Jenkinsof the University of Oregon talks about the work this year and in the past; Chelsea Rose from SOULA is the segment producer and also part of the conversation.
