Humboldt Bay gets two strikes against it when it comes to sea level rise: the Pacific is just a little higher each year, and the land around the bay is just a little lower, thanks to plate tectonics.
Environmental planner Aldaron Laird has been studying the situation for some time now, measuring the relationship between land and water and mapping the bay shoreline. He presents the latest info to the public in a free event next week (June 7th).
We get a preview in this chat about what the future might bring.
