There's always a certain level of mystery for a person who develops lung cancer and never smoked cigarettes. Genetics can certainly play a part, but so can radon.
The gas that can seep out of the ground into our homes is undetectable by human senses, and can lead to lung cancer. Scott Burns, Professor Emeritus of Geology at Portland State University, has long studied the gas, the geology that produces it, and the human home engineering that traps it.
He delivers the next Geology Lecture for Southwestern Oregon Community College, “Radon – the Invisible Geological Killer” Saturday (March 13th) at 7 PM. Online, of course. We get a preview and overview of radon test kits and mitigation measures.
