Pathologists have proven their value during the current pandemic, isolating the source of COVID-19, sequencing its DNA and coming up with vaccines.
But not all pathologists work with animals. Achala KC (that is her name) is a plant pathologist at the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center, SOREC. A big part of her work is figuring out how to keep diseases of grapevines from devastating regional wine production.
Achala is this month's guest in Stories of Southern Oregon, compiled by Maureen Flanagan Battistella. Achala and Maureen join us to talk about the work of a plant pathologist.
