First priority in a disaster is making sure the people are safe. One of the next steps is to assess the damage to homes and businesses.

Jackson County has thousands of properties, both homes and businesses, damaged or destroyed by the Almeda Drive and South Obenchain fires. And the Development Services (planning) department is well into the process, with the aid of FEMA and other entities.

The Damage Assessment Dashboard map is now live on the county website. Development Services Director Ted Zuk adds details to the effort.

Additional interview and link: Becky Schiff joined us with an update on the Slater and Devil Fires, still active in Josephine, Del Norte, and Siskiyou Counties. There is a Community Meeting on Facebook, Tuesday, September 29th, at 6 PM.
