A view of the Almeda Drive Fire, from a rooftop in downtown Medford, just before 5 PM on September 8th.

Of the thousands of people who had to evacuate from encroaching fires in September, nearly all emerged unscathed. Physically, anyway.

The loss of thousands of homes and the very act of evacuating rattled the minds of many people who now need comforting and mental healthcare. NAMI-Southern Oregon, the regional chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is keeping tabs on the situation.

The chapter is hosting a forum for candidates for legislative and local offices on October 3rd, focused on issues like access to mental health services and rebuilding from the fires. Real Solutions Coalition is a partner in the forum.

Caren Caldwell and Rich Rohde from the NAMI-SO Advocacy Committee visit.

Access the forum or submit questions in advance at NAMI-SO's Facebook page, or Rogue Action Center's Facebook page.
