There's a reason people take part in marches and demonstrations on behalf of missing and murdered indigenous women in America.

Because indigenous women suffer violence at higher rates than the general population, and the cases remain open and unsolved more often than the national average.

The Sovereign Bodies Institute is dedicated to research into gender and sexual violence against indigenous people. And it's not about working from the outside; SBI lifts up the work of Native Americans to learn more and use what they learn to put an end to the violence.

SBI Operations Manager Michaela Madrid is our guest.
