Jo Spurgeon from St. Mary's won a national title.

Somehow, a few high school competitions got to happen this year, despite schools being closed all over the country. And a pair of Southern Oregon students came up big in the National Speech and Debate Association competition, held online because of the pandemic.

Jo Spurgeon from St. Mary's School in Medford won her category at Nationals, while Lilli Morrish from Ashland High School came in second in hers.

The two students join us to talk about their journeys to Nationals (and where they actually delivered their speeches), while Ashland coach Matt Marr and St. Mary's coach Molly Bruins describe how they helped prepare their students.
