Oregon Joins The Unanimous-Verdict States

What the Oregon Legislature could not accomplish, the U.S. Supreme Court decided.

The court's recent ruling striking down non-unanimous jury verdicts in criminal trials removed Oregon's status as the only jurisdiction in the country where people could go to prison in a split verdict.

State Senator Floyd Prozanski of Eugene led the effort to put the question to Oregon voters; it never made it out of the legislature in 2019.
