Oregon Struggles To Maintain Foster Care System In Pandemic

Oregon's foster care system for children already had a number of challenges in carrying out its mission. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, and physical distancing guidelines stopped caseworkers from making their monthly visits to children in care.

The guidelines also put a temporary halt on parents seeing their own children who are in foster care. Electronic visits have replaced physical ones.

We get an overview of how the Department of Human Services is handling the changes in a visit with a member of the department.
