People who live on the edges of cities and in the suburbs are constantly surprised by the activities of the wild animals who live nearby.  And they (the people) are constantly reminded that it is we, the humans, who built houses in the habitats of the wild creatures.  Nature writer Lyanda Lynn Haupt takes up the issue in her book The Urban Bestiary: Encountering the Everyday Wild.  She writes of the lifestyles and habits of the creatures that are often invisible to us.
