Sustainability In Public Spaces

Designing cities around cars makes them efficient for drivers, but not entirely friendly to people on foot or bicycle. 

Recent decades marked a shift back toward pedestrian-friendly cities, andMark Lakeman has been part of it. 

Lakeman works with cities to design sustainable public spaces, and he was an early consultant in the effort that led to Opportunity Village Eugene. 

He visits to talk about new public spaces, in theory and in practice.
