Party Patrols Start In Eugene

University of Oregon

Classes start Monday at public universities in Oregon, and Eugene police are resuming party patrols to control noise and crowds in student neighborhoods near the U of O.

The Register-Guard reports police have already been called this week to quiet noisy parties near campus.

On Monday, city and university officials plan to go door to door to remind students to be good neighbors. They will hand out brochures containing information about a new city ordinance that penalizes the hosts of any out-of-control gathering. The rules apply throughout the city, but came up in response to problems around the University of Oregon campus.
