JPR Website Adapts For Mobile Users

JPR's website will be in transition this morning (Thursday, May 21) starting at about 9:30am as it gets a facelift to a more mobile and tablet friendly design. The new "responsive" design will optimize the site’s layout for each individual user according to the screen size of the device being used to access ijpr.org.

The layout on a desktop or laptop computer will look very similar to what you're used to seeing, with just a few notable changes – the most important of which is that the “Listen Live” button moves from the top left to the top right section of our main page. Top stories on the site will also now display in an enhanced, more graphical “news river” rather than rotate at the top of the page. And, content we're drawing your attention to will move from the top of the page and middle column to the right hand column of the new site.

On a tablet or a smart phone the site will magically get skinny, stacking stories to keep them legible. This is a big improvement over the special mobile version of the site we previously used which only displayed a fraction of our content.

The goal of this new design is to make ijpr.org even more useful for the growing number of smart phone and tablet users while also enhancing the experience for our desktop and laptop users. Please let us know what you think of the new design, and be sure to report any problems you encounter using the site after Thursday morning so we can address them.

And, thanks for bearing with us during the few hours our site will be under construction.
