JPR and the Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University present Jake Shimabukuro in concert Wednesday night, January 30th at the SOU Music Recital Hall in Ashland at 8pm. Tickets are available online by CLICKING HERE.
Virtuoso ukulele rock star (yes, that’s a thing), Jake Shimabukuro is a musical force. With his lightning-fast fingers, innovative playing techniques and contagious enthusiasm, Jake Shimabukuro has singularly altered expectations for his instrument.
From his early days in Hawaii to becoming a viral YouTube sensation playing George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and collaborations with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and Jimmy Buffett, Jake has wowed audiences around the world. Jake’s career and unlikely life story, documented in a PBS special, makes a significant statement: the ukulele, with its humble four strings and modest two-octave range, is limited only by the imagination and creativity of the person playing it. In Jake Shimabukuro’s hands, it is easy to believe the ukulele is capable of anything!
Tickets are $40 General Admission / $15 SOU Student with valid student ID. Tickets are available online by CLICKING HERE, or at the Box Office: 541-552-6348.
