JPR Live Session: Alex Jackson

Ways To Subscribe

Alex Jackson was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, started playing the guitar at age 7, and spent most of the time locked in her bedroom jumping around with a guitar practicing to AC/DC records. Alex had her first live show at age 11 at The Cherry Bar - a pub on the aptly named AC/DC Lane (which is a real street in Melbourne Australia) and has been gigging, playing, and writing songs ever since.
Jackson moved to Eugene in July of 2014 and now plays shows with her current band Saffron - a hard rock trio. Recently they independently released their first album of eight original compositions.

Alex's submission to the 2016 NPR Tiny Desk Contest was selected as JPR's Regional Favorite.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
