Ask Me Another, Selected Shorts Debut Oct 15 on N&I

NPR's Ophira Eisenberg - host of Ask Me Another

On Saturday, October 15th, JPR's News & Information Service will debut two new programs: NPR's Ask Me Another, and PRI's Selected Shorts. Two other shows will shift to new times to accommodate the changes.

Ask Me Another is the rambunctious live show from NPR and WNYC that blends brainteasers, pub trivia, comedy and music into an hour of mind-bending fun. Host Ophira Eisenberg invites guests and listeners alike to stretch their noggins, tickle their funny bones and be serenaded by house musician Jonathan Coulton. What you'll hear resembles the casual intimacy of game night at a friend's house: one where scores are forgotten in favor of hilarious gaffes. Every week you can play along as Ophira poses questions to willing audience members and call-in contestants, Jonathan sings clues to the tune of pop songs and the resident puzzle guru attempts to keep everyone in line. Each week a new celebrity V.I.P. – that's Very Important Puzzler – dazzles from the puzzle hot seat in a custom-built game.

Selected Shorts: Let Us Tell You A Story presents some of the finest artists in American theater and screen reading short fiction by classic, contemporary and bold new writers. Each program is recorded live at Peter Norton Symphony Space in Manhattan. The programs have featured works by master writers, from Chekhov to Wharton and Hemingway; stories by contemporary greats from John Updike to Alice Walker; and the fresh works of new literary talents, from Pulitzer Prize-winning Jhumpa Lahiri to promising newcomers like Rattawut Lapchararoensap and Etgar Keret.

Ask Me Another will air at 5pm, and Selected Shorts will air at 6pm Saturdays on JPR's News & Information Service.  Along with the new additions, To the Best of our Knowledge moves from 5pm to 1pm, and West Coast Live moves from 1pm to 3pm.

As FM Network Program Director and Music Director, Eric oversees many aspects of JPR's broadcast day. He still hosts the occasional Open Air or classical music shift, and is the driving force behind JPR Live Sessions - our popular series of live in-studio music performances and conversations.
