Elise LeGrow had a major hit on Canadian radio nearly a decade ago called "No Good Woman," but the song's success didn't result in the kind of record deal or artistic freedom that the singer had envisioned for herself. So she waited until the right opportunity came along.
2018's Playing Chess checked that box. Given freedom to explore the vast archives of the legendary Chess Records. The result was a fantastic album of classic tunes and rarities, interpreted with a hefty dose of both retro groove and modern individualism.
Fast forward to 2021, and LeGrow is ready to follow up Playing Chess with a record years in the making - a collection of original tunes slated for release later this year.
She joined us from her home in Toronto for a sneak peak at the new sound.
