2021 NPR Student Podcast Challenge
This will be the third year for NPR's Student Podcast Challenge, and this year they are adding an exciting element to the initiative: college students.
The second year of the contest, despite taking place during the total shutdown of the school year during the pandemic, was a huge success with more than 2,000 entries from nearly every state in the country. Despite the pandemic there were many requests from teachers to extend the deadline as they realized that the contest was an excellent way for them to do project-based learning with their students online. And in the contest’s final week in March more than 800 podcasts were submitted.
NPR is excited to open the world of student podcasting to college students this year and they anticipate a very different group of young people will be submitting and sharing their stories.
The contest will follow this general timeline:
December 1: The Student Podcast Challenge: College Edition will open for entries.
February: Deadline for college student entries.
January 1: The Student Podcast Challenge will open for entries from middle and high school students.
March: Deadline for middle and high school student entries.
