After a couple of busy years out on the road touring with Angel Olsen's band, McEntire took a bit of a break and retreated to her rustic farmhouse near Durham, North Carolina to slow down, quiet her life, and explore the simply daily activities that add up to contemporary life.
McEntire also navigated the sometimes choppy waters of falling in love. Not only with her girlfriend, but with herself. And that experience manifests on Eno Axis. Recorded with friends-as-close-as-family — Casey Toll and Daniel Faust from McEntire's former band Mount Moriah, and Luke Norton (who co-produced the record), most of the tracks feature first take "scratch" vocals, which capture the mood of the "family affair" perfectly.
McEntire joined JPR's Eric Teel with a warm cup of coffee in hand and sleeping dog nearby and shared some beautiful performances of songs from the new record.
