Oregon State Wildfire Insurance In Jeopardy

With droughts on the horizon, Oregon lawmakers are expecting the insurance company that covers the state's wildfire fighting costs to either refuse to issue a policy, or to significantly raise the deductible this year. Due to lightning strikes and dry weather attributed to climate change, Oregon has experienced expensive and frequent wildfires these last two years. Lloyd's, the London-based insurance company that has insured Oregon since 1973, is currently in negotiations with state legislators, but officials worry the company may refuse to issue a policy this year, or raise the rate to an unsustainable amount. We'll talk to Hillary Borrud, Capitol Bureau Reporter for EO Media, about what this could mean for Oregon.
