Working To Make The Eel River Whole

Ellin Beltz/Wikimedia

Drought and heat waves are making it a tough summer for some of the region's waterways.

But even before the drought and summer, many streams had already reached various stages of disrepair.

Including the Eel River, largely in Humboldt County. The Eel River Recovery Project started over concerns about algae several years ago.  It has since added some issues, including the impact of marijuana cultivation on the river.

The project is growing in volunteer strength all the time.  Managing Director Patrick Higgins and Dan Mar of High Tide Permaculture join us.
