Trying to understand the world of legal marijuana in Oregon is enough to drive people to wine.

Marijuana IS legal for personal as well as medical use (though still illegal under federal law), it can be grown, and it is regulated--sometimes heavily--by state and local authorities.

We work through some of the issues with marijuana cultivation and production in a discussion with several people.

Peter Gendron is the president of the Oregon SunGrowers Guild

Mika Smith is a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee/Town Council in Williams, which is dealing with pot cultivation issues, and Julie Schmelzer is the planning director in Josephine County, frequently handling issues of where and how much people can grow marijuana.   They are joined by stewardship forester Nick Haile of the Oregon Department of Forestry.LINK: Peter Gendron mentioned this site in the conversation: beyondTHC.com.
