Barred Owl Shooting Begins

The work long rumored recently got underway: gunfire killed barred owls in Northern California. 

And it was completely intentional, meant to give spotted owls some breathing room in their competition with the rival owls for living space.  The federal barred owl hunting program has been controversial since it was first proposed. 

Friends of Animalsattorney Michael Harris joins us to explain the group's opposition to the killing.
