Another Day, Another Fire: Fresh Evacuations In Jackson/Josephine

Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest

The flock of fires started by lightning on July 15th continue to roar into adulthood, one or two at a time. The Garner Complex fires burning north of Wimer in northwest Jackson County prompted Level 2 ("get set") evacuation notices to 58 addresses.  By Wednesday evening, the complex of 12 fires had reached nearly 1,000 acres in size, with no containment.

Around the same time, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office issue Level 2 and 3 ("go now") notices to 35 addresses near the Hendrix Fire, burning near Hells Peak, southeast of Ruch in the Applegate Valley.

The Hendrix Fire tripled in size between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday, to roughly 600 acres, and gusty winds complicated firefighting on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office issued Level 2 warnings to homes along Taylor Creek, north of Grants Pass.
