Overseeing the Forest
As a boy, Ron McCormick fell in love with the outdoors. He went on to spend joyful years having adventures as a working forester in the national forests of Oregon and California. Then McCormick stepped into the middle of a war when he became the Siskiyou National Forest supervisor in 1983. McCormick describes the years of conflict, caught between environmental activists wanting forest protection and the timber industry fighting to hold onto jobs and a vanishing way of logging. McCormick is the author of "Plain Green Wrapper: A Forester's Story."
