In coordination with Jackson County Reads 2010, the documentary film Beyond the Call will be shown on Wednesday, March 10 from 7:00-8:30 p.m., at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard. This movie shows how one person – or perhaps three persons – can make a difference.
Described as a “part Indiana Jones part Mother Teresa” adventure, three middle-aged men, former soldiers and modern-day knights, travel the world delivering life-saving humanitarian aid directly into the hands of civilians and doctors in some of the most dangerous yet beautiful places on Earth, the front lines of war. .
The film is unrated and does have some brief, graphic depictions of life and death in war times. It is a movie that is inspiring, showing what people can do who want to help others, and do it.
